Let’s be honest: curing printed textiles isn’t as simple as just shining a light on some fabric. If you just blast it with random UV, you’re asking for trouble. You need the right wavelength and the right intensity to actually lock those pigments and resins into the fibers. Do it wrong, and you’ll end up scorching your material. Dialing in the Light
We look at your ink’s photoinitiator first. That tells us exactly what gas fill and quartz envelope to use. For most textile jobs, we stick to narrow-band UV-C or UV-B. Why? Because it makes the ink polymers cross-link fast. If the intensity is too low, the fabric stays tacky, and the ink starts to migrate—which is a nightmare. But if you crank it too high, you can actually weaken the fabric. It’s a balancing act. We tweak the wattage per inch so the cure is perfectly consistent across the entire width of the web.
Dealing with the Heat
High-output lamps get hot. Really hot. To handle this, we use high-purity fused quartz. It lets the UV through while managing that thermal expansion so the lamp doesn’t just pop. But here’s the thing: your cooling blowers have to be up to the task. If your airflow is weak, your lamps will burn out way too fast and you’ll get patchy curing zones. To make life easier, we offer different end-cap setups. They’re designed to be drop-in replacements for your current housings, so you aren’t wasting hours of downtime just to swap a lamp.
Making it Work on the Floor
The goal is simple: the fabric should be dry to the touch the second it leaves the lamp. We calibrate the reflectors to kill off those annoying “cold spots” that usually lead to smudging during the winding process. Just keep an eye on your power density—too much and the fabric might shrink. The trick is to sync your conveyor speed with the lamp’s irradiance. Get that rhythm right, and you won’t have to worry about warping your fabric.
