When a tube runs too hot, the quartz “solarizes”—basically, it wears out. We found a sweet spot with the glass thickness. It’s tough enough to handle the internal pressure, but thin enough that the UV-C waves slide right through. It just works.
Trading a little power for a lot of peace of mind
We don’t treat “environmental responsibility” as a marketing slogan. It’s a part of the build. We’re talking lead-free solder and mercury-free options wherever we can possibly swing it. Now, here’s the trade-off. If you go fully eco-friendly, you might notice a 5-10% dip in peak intensity compared to those old, toxic lamps. But look at the bigger picture. You get a lamp that lasts way longer and doesn’t cost a fortune to dispose of safely. To us, that’s a fair deal.
Fitting them into your setup
You shouldn’t have to rip out your entire wiring rack just to upgrade your bulbs. We kept the footprints standard, so these are simple drop-in replacements. Since we use higher-grade quartz, these tubes can take a beating. They don’t crack the moment things get hectic in the shop. But a quick heads-up: keep your cooling fans clean. Seriously.
